Saturday, May 19, 2001--Thousands of American citizens marched from the White House, past the U.S. Supreme Court, to the Capital Building in Washington, DC today, to demand the restoration of basic democratic rights in the United States.
Rose from Los Angeles, founder and web mistress of a group calling itself "Fringe Folk" called on the assembled crowd to keep up the pressure for true voting reform.

Friday, May 18, 2001--One day before the Voter Rights March in Washington DC, members of a group calling themselves "Fringe Folk" gathered at a Virginia motel just across the Potomac River from the Washington Monument, the White House, and the U.S. Capital.
[I arrived several hours after the 6:30 PM meeting time publicized on the net. My oldest daughter's senior prom is also tonight, and I delayed my departure in order to perform the ritual of greeting her date and taking pictures. She had warned me repeatedly NOT to mention politics, as he is a Republican.]
As I pulled into the motel parking lot, I immediately saw people assembling protest signs.
"I'm new at this," explained the gentleman, "but I've been told that holding a sign up high can get tiring. That's why I'm making these sticks."
Inside, I was greeted by a man who said he had traveled all the way from St. Louis to attend the march.
I introduced myself and asked to meet Rose, the famous Fringe Folk web mistress and patriot. "She's out getting coffee," I was told. So I bought a tee shirt and buttons.
The excitement is building. If you can still make it, the march begins at 9:00 AM at Lafayette Park. Afternoon events and speeches will be on the west side of the U.S. Capital. If you can't make it, check back here Saturday evening, for full coverage including video!
